Obama makes history!! First colored president of the United States of America. Obama took the oath on January 20th where the recite made and mistake and Obama gave him a minute to correct which made Obama look bad. People say that this was the most expensive inauguration ever its cost was $150 million. The cost was high because of the high security rates but no one was arrested at the inauguration. There was about 1.5 to 3 million people at the inauguration. Obama issued executive orders to shut the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, detention camp within a year. Which gives them about an year of time to decide where the terrorists and the other people from the camp go or if they have to be moved to other countries. Frenchman speaks nonstop for 124 hours to set the speech record. Ouch that sounds so hard!! I wouldn't even last for 5 minutes. Frenchman Lluis Colet broke the world record of the longest speech after rambling nonstop for 124 hours anout spanish painter Salvador Dali, Catalan culture and other topics. Rebutal against that woud ahve been fun! The 63 year old man talked for 5 starught days and four nights. The prvious record was held by an indian man who talked for 120 hours. I would have fallen asleep. Or i would be chantin about the chemistry book and get it into my head. Colet began on monday at a railway staion reciting the works of famous authors and painters he adored. Large crowds came to support him and finally he set the guiness book award for talking for 124 hours!
A young 2 year old body is the youngest boy to have a heart trasplant in india. He had only an year to live before the transplant. A 2 year old that died in a car accident has donated her heart to this boy and her kidneys are still stored for those in need. The girl died in a accident with her mother and her father is still under going treatment. This is an increadily sad and happy story. Her liver kidneys and eyes are also being donated. The year old girl is the youngest multi-organ donor and the 2 year old boy is the youngest boy to get a heart transplant in india. The heart transplant took 2 hours and 40 minutes.
Brazilian model Mariana Bridi, 20 says that she was "living the dream". Now she is in a intensive care unit fighting for her life. The doctors are trying to get the fatal infection out. In the last week she has had both of her hands and feet amputated. Doctors removed both of her kidneys and a part of her stomach. Executive of Miss world brazil told CNN that "They say her situation is very critical and that her chances of survival are not really significant but she keeps surprising everyone". Two weeks ago the doctor gave her 24 hours to live but she keeps fighting for her life. Doctors say that she has kidney stones but her condition is worst than kidney stones maybe a blood infection. She doesnt talk she resopnds by blinking kind of like Jean dominique from the diving bell of the butterfly. She was a person who enjoyed life and went after what she wanted without fears.
The basketball team that had a score of 100-nothing but the coach was still prud of them. He says they tried and tried and never gave up. The bulldogs have variety of people on the team the bulldogs have team members with a variety of learning problems. They play in hope of improving skills, learning teamwork and picking up watever life lesson athletics may bring. But the opposing team never said anything about how bad the team was. They say thier moto is "Competition with honor". At half time the other team scored 88-0. Bu the team has terrific players good defense but not fast enough to score a goal. Hmm intresting.
Slumdog Millionaire is a bolywood movie that won 4 Golden Globe awards. The movie has 2 newbies who are vey new to the Film Industry. Slumdog Millionaire is nominate for 10 Oscar awards including Best Director: Danny Boyle. The setting was in Mumbai india the plot is about a teenager from the streets of mumabi is about to get rich on the show called 'Who wants to be a Millionaire?'. The film has 3 other nominations for best music and best film of the year. This is a Fox Search light movie. I've watched it and its worth it. I like it because it is very diffrent. This film made history well especially because its an indian film. I also liked it because it was a love story. Jamal has a brother named Salim who were kidnapped and sold to other people along with other homeless people. But Jamal and Salim and Latika and other decide to run away. Then Jamal goes his own way leaving Latika to Salim and then he finds her again and its about how they find each other at the end.
I didn't like this book that much but it wasn't bad. I like Twilight better. Jacob Black was in this book a lot. Bella just turned Eighteen and Edward moves away from her becasue it was too hard for him to be around her. But he always loved her however far away she was or he was. She gets closer to Jacb black and finds out that he just has become a warewolf. She trys so many crazy things because whenever she was in danger she would hear Edward's voice in the back of her head. She tried really crazy things such as cliff diving all by herself and she almost drowned. She drove motorcyles and almost cracked her head open and started talking to these strange guys that were outside of a bar. Laurent a vampire that has revenge on The Cullens because they killed his friend James in Twilight. Laurent finds Bella all alone in the meadow and tries to kill her before Jacob and his Warewolf pack comes and saves the day. When Alice saw Bella jumping off a cliff she thought she died and rosalie told edward and Edward tried to kill himself before Edward comes and saves him. But when Bella came to save him The volturra tell Edward that he has to change bella into a vampire before thier next visit. Edward only agreed to turn bella into a vampire if she decides to marry him. Edward proposes to Bella at the end of new Moon.
Daddy Long Legs is about a girl named Judy Abbott. She is from an orphanage called the John Grier home. She gets a chance to go to college because a trustee decides to give her a scholarship as she writes letters to him and becomes and author. Judy was never allowed to know about the trustee because he was going to be anonymous but she called him Daddy Long Legs. She later finds out that Daddy Long Legs is Jervis Pendelton who is her roommate’s uncle. I didn't like the end because i thought she was going to end up with Jimmie McBride who is her other roommate Sallie's brother who goes to Harvard and used to write letters to Judy. But at the end she ended up with Jervis Pendelton.
Jett Travolta died when he was on a vacation at the Bahamas with his family. Jett was 16 when he died they say that he had a seizure and he hit his head but the exact cause of death is still unknown. They scheduled an autopsy on Monday. Bahamian police said that on Friday a caretaker at the West End resort found Jett in the bathroom unconscious. He was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival. Jett Travolta had a developmental disability that his parents have linked to Kawasaki disease, an inflammatory disorder of the artery walls that most commonly occurs in young children and can lead to heart disease. Sanjay Gupta says that mostly patients with 3 to 5 years have Kawasaki disease and he says that it’s rare for someone to have it in their teens. The causes of this disease are unknown but some scientists think it’s usually occurs from carpet cleaning chemicals.
A Muslim family has been kicked off a plane because they were talking about where to sit on the plane if the plane crashed. They were talking about safety on the plane when two passengers over heard and told the flight attendants. They were kicked off the plane and searched by FBI and the FBI cleared them to go on. But, Air Tran refused them to go on the plane. The family was upset that Air Tran didn’t allow them to book another flight. The flight was delayed and everyone was checked and then they were ready to go. But the Muslim family had to buy tickets on US airways but they were refunded and they could travel on Air Tran another time if they wished. They were heading to Florida for a religious retreat. The family traveled with 2 children and a family friend.

Liz lived in Wahington and she was haunted by images of the storms destruction and stories of people. In Febuary 2006, Liz and her boyfriend went to volunteer at New Orleans. Now thier still dedicated to help people rebuild thier homes and move back into thier homes. Within two months of thier arrival they opened the nonprofit organization St. Bernard Project they put Senior citizens and families with children first on thier list. The St. Bernard Project can transform a gutted house into a livable home in just eight to 12 weeks for an average cost of $12,000. More than 6,000 volunteers have worked with the St. Bernard Project, helping more than 120 families to move back into their homes. Liz McVartney and her boyfriend plan on working till they can get everyone back into thier homes.

At least 195 people killed and 300 were injures in the attacks. Police belive that 12 terrorists were responsible for the attacks at 10 different locations. The terriorist used a fishing boat to travel to the city by sea to avoid gujrat security patrols and checkpoints. At 9:15 PM five terrorists armed with AK-47'S barged into Leopold Cafe. At 9:20 PM two men on a motor bike threw a grenade at a petrol station and killed two people and took number of hostages from a pub. I am currently reading twilight because a lot of people said it was really good. I am on page 270. I’m pretty addicted to it now. Well, the book is about a boy named Edward who is a vampire and Bella who is a normal teenage girl that moved to a small town in Washington called Forks. First, he doesn’t seem to like her because when he was in biology he would move as much away from her as possible and would always clench his fists. After a week went by he introduces himself as Edward Cullen and is totally nice to her now. One day he saves her from a van that was sliding on ice with his strong powers. When Bella confronts him being strong and blazing fast he denies it. She finds out stuff about the Cullen’s through friend named Jacob black who knows a lot about them. But eventually he tells her that he is a vampire and what is allowed to do and what his appetite is. He even tells her what he can do for example he can read minds except for Bella’s. Even as Bella and Edward try to get to know each other more it is hard for him to be near her because he a total different person.
Teenager Commits Suicide on webcam as others watch!
A florida teenager died in his bed of druf overdose while others watched him over the internet through his webcam on Justin.tv. The cause of the death was because of Benzodiazepine, an antidepressant and other drugs that were used to treat depression. The article did not reveal his name. His body was found in his apartment behind a locked door which the police broke down. He was blogging between 3.am to 4.am about him taking overdose of drugs and he also posted a sucide note. The people that commented his video were telling him that he was joking and he couldnt kill him self with the number of medicines he took. But yet he passed away but the people that were watching the video were concered and called the management of Justin.Tv and reported the police.

Animas Corporation and Nicole Johnson Baker launch Diabetes Hero campaign; Distributes Diabetes Heroes Awareness Bracelets to Children Nationwide
WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- Animas Corporation (Nasdaq:PUMP), a leading manufacturer of insulin pumps, along with Nicole Johnson Baker, former Miss America, TV Host and Author, have launched the Diabetes Heroes campaign. Diabetes Heroes is a nationwide program created to identify and recognize individuals who have demonstrated exceptional resilience and/ or creativity in living with diabetes or who have provided exceptional assistance and motivation to one or more persons with diabetes. Heroes will be named in five categories including: patient, family member, friend, healthcare professional and other.

Health Hero: Diane Harper She helped develop a vaccine that could save 250,000 women a year

Prevention's April Health Hero, Diane Harper, MD, MPH, helped develop Gardasil, the first vaccine against human papillomavirus, the main cause of cervical cancer. She's taken a leave from Dartmouth Medical School to educate doctors around the world about the vaccine, developed by Merck & Co., and a similar vaccine, Cervarix, developed by GlaxoSmithKline, which is expected to be approved by the FDA soon. Contributor Alexis Jetter recently spoke with Harper.
Your work is going to profoundly affect women's experience in terms of their gynecologic health--what was your first experience with a gynecologist?I joined the Navy in college, which wasn't a good fit, literally. I tried to wear the uniform but they didn't have one to fit me. But I joined because I was going to MIT, which cost $40,000 a year. I went to helicopter school, learned how to crash a helicopter underwater and swim out--very scary. In the end, the Navy and I parted0--it was not, as I said, a good fit.
My very first pelvic exam was done in a Navy hospital; I don't even remember where. A big naval base somewhere. We were all lined up in Johnny robes. The gynecologist was about 102 years old. I was 18. "Oh my God," I thought. "What's happening to me?" We had very little clothes on, and at 18, you're thinking: "This is my body and what's happening to it?"
He never said a word. No talking. He figured everyone had had one of these exams before. I was hundreds of miles from my home and from my mother. It was an important event, and shaped the way in which I approach medicine: How do you provide medical care? How do you listen?
What's most exciting to you about the new vaccine?One woman dies of cervical cancer every two minutes--it's the number one cancer-killer of women in the developing world. And these women are dying at a point in life when they're most productive and most needed by their families. This vaccine can prevent 70 percent of those deaths, and that's a huge number of lives that we can save--nearly 300,000 lives a year. That's incredible. We have never had a vaccine against anything that comes close.

A woman named Angela Strokes has lost 160 pounds. She used to weighs 300 pounds because of an under-active thyroid gland. When she graduated from college she wore a U.K dress size 26-28. She had a hard life time because it was hard for her do daily things like cutting her toenails, going on walks, mobility was very restricted. She has never been interested in diets until her friend in Iceland gave her a copy of a book about benefits of eating raw foods. She started to eat raw foods every day. It took her two years to lose 160 pounds and she has been experiencing improvements emotionally, physically and socially. She recommends for people to start out with 50 percent raw.
I am reading the Blue Jasmine By Kashmira Seth so far this book has a good begining and a good confict. The story is about a girl named Seema Trivedi who just moved from a small town in India to Iowa City. She misses her best friend/cousin raju and her family. She feels like an outsider in Iowa because everything is different including her language and traditions compared to Iowa city. She has been really close to her neighbors they are really nice to her and they welcomed thier family. They also taught seema new words and phrases. When she was just getting used to the culture of america her family gets a phone call from india and finds out that her grandma is really sick. Her and her family has to go see her. I had to stop reading here. :(
I read an article about the temple stampede that killed 168 people in India. This was caused by overcrowding because there was more than 12,000 people gathered at the temple to celebrate a festival. They know that at least 168 people were killed in the stampede. The stampeded began because of a false rumor of a bomb spread among the crowd. The people thought it was true because there has been a lot of recent bomb attacks in India. They say that this wasn't the first time a stampede has happend in India. In august there were 145 people killed when rumors of an avalanche sparked a stampede at a hilltop temple in northern India.
